Welcome to the 2nd Annual Weird Webby Awards!
This a collection of some of my favorite things from the year that super sucked. We could use some love and good digital hugs. Well, here’s my attempt to bring some light into your world. All things come to you from the realm of Sorcery, Paganism, Witchcraft, Tarot, Paranormal, Weird, and Wonderful.
Please understand this list is by no means complete. It’s very hard for me to choose who wins each one of these awards. After all, the award choice is mine and mine alone. So a winner shall be named. A link shall be shared. Perhaps, some of this will inspire you to go out and create your own art for the world. Please do!
I will be giving an award for The Best Blog, Book, Tarot Deck, YouTube Channel, Podcast, Unique New Series, and the Weird Webby Webber of the Year. You can see the 2019 Winners Here.
2020 Weird Webby Blog Award
Jason Miller. The Strategic Sorcery Blog. Jason has been busy this year writing timely, practical, and very helpful blog posts for magic users of all types. His strategies provide real results when applied to your life. His insight and wisdom he’s willing to share is immense and selfless. Sure, he promotes his courses here and there on the blog. He does that AFTER he’s given you more than enough to transform your magic and your life for free. Go subscribe!
2020 Weird Webby Book Award
Aidan Wachter. Weaving Fate: Hypersigils, Changing the Past & Telling True Lies. I have said so much about Weaving Fate in many places. It was the clear winner this year. This book is a game changer. It’s the true marriage of creativity, art, storytelling, and sorcery. Buy this book. Do the work. This book will change you. And you’ll be happy for the change.
2020 Weird Webby Tarot Deck Award
Rose Wright & Eugene Smith. The Edgar Allen Poe Tarot. I don’t buy many tarot decks. My collection is a slow grower because I’m picky. I need great illustration in the minors as well as the majors. I need court cards to be more than a face. The Edgar Allen Poe deck delivers all of that in a beautiful way that brings Poe’s work to life in art. Decks like this usually only end up in a collection, but this one is so well done that is will enchant for readings! I have no complaint beyond the usual plead for mass market decks to be just a smidge stronger on card stock. That is no fault of the artist. Beautiful. Mesmerizing. Worthy of your collection and skills, my dear Tarot people!
2020 Weird Webby YouTube Channel Award
Thorn Mooney. Thorn is one of my favorite humans. Yet, I’ve never met her nor had her on the show. That invitation is always open. Thorn produces videos without much flare. It’s Thorn – usually in her car – delivering no bullshit raw truth from years of experience, experimentation, and leadership in Witchcraft. It gets personal. It gets inspirational. It gets me to sit down and listen to every word. Thorn is a leader, writer, and reader worthy of your time. Her name is certain to be as legendary as Scott Cunningham, Raymond Buckland, and even Gerald Gardner. Yeah, I said it. People appreciate hearing the truth. Thorn delivers every single time. Go subscribe to her channel!
2020 Weird Webby Podcast Award
Darragh Mason Field. The Spirit Box. Darragh has been a guest on my show, and I have been on his show not once but twice! So yeah, I’ve got a lot of love for my homie from Ireland. Darragh runs his show with a very comfortable conversational style that is also well researched. He knows what he wants to ask, and he’s open to discussion. You don’t hear a whole lot about him during interviews. I appreciate that too. It’s my style as well. The show is about the guest. He’s had great guests too! Go check out his channel where you get your podcasts. All his episodes are available on YouTube.
2020 Weird Webby Unique Series Award
Sky Cowans. Sky Life. Let me start by saying Ii just found Sky’s YouTube channel just a few weeks ago. I was home battling the Covid infection. YouTube put Sky in my recommended videos. I quickly realized her channel is like a TV show I wish we had more of in the world. It’s her journey to experience the world through spiritual experimentation. She’s excited, curious, honest, and it’s all an infectious good vibe. I give those good vibes some due credit for helping me through some really awful days. I’ll be following Sky on her journey for as long as she is willing to keep sharing. I hope you do too!
2020 Weird Webby Webber of the Year Award
Catherine Heath aka Seo Helrune. Cat is bad ass Heathen Witch of epic proportions. She’s also one of my dearest friends in the world. Cat gives the world a blog full of amazing magical Heathen insight and exploration. Cat gives the world courses on more of the same in even greater depth. Cat has a new book coming out in 2021 that I had the honor to review. It’s awesome. Oh, the book is Elves, Witches & Gods: Spinning Old Heathen Magic in the Modern Day. Available for reorder at that link. Hitting shelves in March. Cat is a vigorous voice against the stain of racism in Heathenry, and equally in support of magic in Heathenry. Would you yet know more? Do yourself a favor and dive into the collective works of Catherine Heath!
That’s A Wrap!
Thank you for taking the time to read this list of my personal delights. Please check out the links and search for more from these incredible people.
Did you not see your favorite? It’s all good. I had a hard time deciding on a couple categories. If I made a list of honorable mentions, I would never be able to stop. This awards list is a snapshot of time of the things I reflected on and found at the top of my list for this project. Nothing more. Nothing less.
I hope you enjoyed this one!
Stay Weird, my friends!
