Practical Magic: My Servitor That Finds Lost Things

February 28, 2019by Lonnie Scott0

Servitor is a word snagged from Science Fiction by Clark Ashton Smith in the 30’s found in Weird Tales. Smith was referring to bound spirits. Servitors have become something a little different today. Maybe.

When I’m talking about servitors, I’m referring to spirits created with intent by a magician and given a specific purpose. The only active servitor I still have running is one which I named Pugz and housed in a gargoyle statue. The whole purpose for Pugz to exist is to find simple things such as keys and other common items you misplace.

How this all actually works is up for debate. Some say we mold these servitors with parts of our own psyche, soul, energy, whatever you call the magical energy running wild and loose in your body. Ya dig? I think we create a shiny beacon in The Field that says, “Help Wanted. Seeking Spirit who loves finding stuff. Offerings and networking opportunity for the right candidate. Please respond to the following symbol.” A spirit responds, gets hooked up to our system of intent and symbols, and we bind it and ourselves to it through the magical act of creation.

I have changed my mind on this more than once. Let it be known that the recipe works. Details are debatable.

Back to Pugz.

This little beastie has been very reliable over the years, and the only payment you must make afterwards is eating a cookie on its behalf. My friends started calling on Pugz when they misplaced their keys with great success. As time went by they started calling on Pugz for a clear path in traffic. The logic here is finding something missing to their perception. Pugz has now been called on for everything from a lost wedding ring to missing persons. The farther away from “simple item” Pugz is asked to return, the more varied and inconsistent the results. That’s no reason to avoid trying. The more people there are asking Pugz for help, the more fine tuned Pugz can work.

How do you call on Pugz to help?

Gargoyles and cookies.

Find any Gargoyle figure. That was the first home of Pugz, and now Pugz operates through any Gargoyle statuary worldwide.

Ask Pugz for help with a clear request. Say, “Pugz, find my lost sunglasses. You have 4 hours.” Always set a time limit. No more than three days, and no less than an hour for best results. If you want to test Pugz in traffic with super fast response, good luck.

If you find your missing item, or it suddenly appears out of nowhere, thank Pugz out loud and eat a cookie. It really is that simple.

I created Pugz over 20 years ago. Pugz is still active with several magic users worldwide. You’re officially invited to join the club!

The Chaos Matrix is still up and running. Go check out more information on Servitors and how to create them for yourself!

Stay Weird, my friends!
